You can also run the drivemanufacturer’s diagnostic and repair utilities on the drive.See AlsoFor links to drive manufacturer diagnostic utilities and troubleshootingadvice, see http://www.3ware.com/KB/article.aspx?id=10894.“Basic Troubleshooting: Check This First” on page 219000F SMART threshold exceededEvent TypeWarningCauseSMART monitoring is predicting a potential drive failure. The 3ware RAID controller supports SMART monitoring, whereby theindividual drives automatically monitor certain parametric information suchas error rates and retry counts. This type of monitoring may be able to predict adrive failure before it happens, allowing you to schedule service of the unitbefore it becomes degraded. The SMART status of each drive attached to the3ware RAID controller is monitored daily.ActionAMCC recommends that you replace any drive that has exceeded the SMARTthreshold. If the drive is part of a redundant unit, remove the drive through 3DM2 orCLI. Replace the drive and start a rebuild. If the drive is not part of a redundant unit, then you will need to backup yourdata before replacing the drive.See Also“Viewing SMART Data About a Drive” on page 141“Rebuilding Units” on page 150.
