CHAPTER 5 283Chapter 5. Console CommandsThe console commands serve as means for the basic configurationof the A850 which is a prerequisite for being able in to work in suc-cession with the Gateway via the Graphical User Interface (GUI).The console commands are executed through the command lineinterface with a menu driven application which allows the user toperform various maintenance and debugging tasks. Thereby, theavailable feasibilities for settings via the command line interfacedepend from the type of logged-in user (system administrator, standard administrator or user without administrator rights, respectively) and from the type of connection (local or remote). The following feasibilities for settings are available to the user“root“ via the local serial connection “CONSOLE” on the rear sideof the A850 (Fig. 3):• reset the gateway to factory defaults (removing the currentconfiguration and database),• generate a basic configuration with an empty database byentering a few basic data like a new root password, operatingmode and parameters of the network, the serial numbers ofthe wireless modems that are connected, whether a GSM orGPRS modem should be used etc.,• import an existing configuration by downloading a file usingthe feature X/Y/Z-MODEM,• export the configuration by uploading a file using the featureX/Y/Z-MODEM,• erase the configuration,• upgrade the Gateway firmware• generate keys and certificates for encrypted protocols(HTTPS, SSH).
