A version of the UNIX operating systemfrom IBM that runs on various IBM computers including Mainframesystems.AppleTalk A local area network protocol for communication between AppleComputer products and other computers and peripherals.ARP Address Resolution Protocol. A protocol within the TCP/IP suite ofnetwork protocols that allows a host to find the physical address of anode on the same network. ARP cannot be used across routers.Authentication Verification of identity, for instance by use of digital signatures.Auto-IP A method to automatically set an IP address in the absence of a DHCPserver.Bonjour Bonjour enables automatic discovery of computers, devices, and serviceson IP networks without the need to enter IP addresses or configure DNSservers.BOOTP BOOT Protocol. A TCP/IP protocol, used for downloading start-upinformation such as the IP address to hosts on the network. BOOTPrequires a BOOTP daemon on your system. A request made to an activeBOOTP daemon initiates a search of the Boot Table for an entry matchingthe print server's Ethernet address. If a matching entry is found, thedaemon downloads the IP address to the print server.BSD Berkeley Software Distribution.
