WINDING/INSTALLING THE BOBBIN40Setting the Bobbina Press to lock all keys and buttons and raise thepresser foot.* If the message [OK to automatically lower thepresser foot?] appears on the LCD screen, pressto continue.b Slide the bobbin cover latch to the right and removethe bobbin cover.c Insert the bobbin into the bobbin case so that thethread unwinds to the left.d Lightly hold down the bobbin with your right hand(1), and then guide the end of the thread around thetab of the needle plate cover with your left hand (2).e While lightly holding down the bobbin with your righthand (1), guide the thread through the slit in theneedle plate cover (2) and lightly pull it with your lefthand (3).f While lightly holding down the bobbin with your righthand (1), continue guiding the thread through the slitwith your left hand (2). Then, cut the thread with thecutter (3).CAUTION• Use a bobbin that has been correctly woundwith thread, otherwise the needle may breakor the thread tension will be incorrect.• Before inserting or changing the bobbin, besure to press in the LCD to lock all keysand buttons. Otherwise injuries may occur ifthe “Start/Stop” button or any other button ispressed and the machine starts sewing.1 TabCAUTION• Be sure to hold down the bobbin with yourfinger and unwind the bobbin threadcorrectly, otherwise the thread may break orthe thread tension will be incorrect.Memo• By guiding the thread around the tab of the needleplate cover, passing the thread as shown by 2 inthis illustration, then lightly pulling the thread at 3,the thread will enter the tension spring of thebobbin case to apply the appropriate tension to thebobbin thread during sewing.Memo• Be sure to complete the bobbin threading correctlyaccording to these instructions. If the thread issimply placed in the slit in the needle plate cover,the bobbin thread will not be correctly threaded,resulting in poor sewing performance or incorrectthread tension.
