NOOK User Guide In-Store Experience 88Read in StoresYou can read many eBooks in a Barnes & Noble Bookstore free of charge. Read a specific eBookfor a maximum of one hour every calendar day.The time period of one hour is of active reading. After two minutes of not turning apage (and not going to different parts of the eBook using the Go to menu), your NOOKstops the clock, and starts it again when you resume actively reading. For example, if youread an eBook for half an hour, then go out for lunch, and return to the store to read,about 28 minutes of reading time for the eBook will remain today.Several restrictions apply to reading free content:• Read in Store is only available on registered NOOKs.• Read In Store is limited to eBooks.• Reading time is limited to one hour per calendar day.• You cannot save or archive free content. At the end of the hour or when you leave the store, itwill no longer be available. You can read it another time (tomorrow or later).• You cannot bookmark, highlight, or annotate free content.• You cannot change the font or text size while reading free content.The eBooks that you have read in stores are available in the Recently Read In Store menu in theShop, with the most recently read eBooks at the top.To read an eBook in a store:1 Go to a Barnes & Noble Bookstore.2 On the Home menu, tap shop.3 Browse to or search for an eBook that you want to read in the store and tap Select. If theeBook can be read in the store, Read in Store is among the menus. If Read in Store is not in themenus, you cannot read the eBook in the store (unless you buy it).4 Tap Read in Store. Your NOOK displays the eBook in the Reader. Not all reader features areavailable.To browse recent in-store reading:1 On the Home menu, tap shop.2 Tap Recently Read In Store. The next level of menus lists the eBooks that you have read inBarnes & Noble Bookstores.
