Chapter 5: Local Management5-286H123-50 and 6H133-37 User’s Guide5.8.1 Establishing Community NamesThe password used to access Local Management at the Password Screenmust have Super-User access in order to view and edit the SNMPCommunity Names screen. Using a password with read-only orread-write access does not enable the user to view or edit the SNMPCommunity Names screen.To establish community names, proceed as follows:1. Use the arrow keys to highlight the Community Name field adjacentto the selected access level.2. Enter the password in the field (maximum 31 characters).3. Press ENTER.4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 to modify the other community names.5. Use the arrow keys to highlight the SAVE command at the bottom ofthe screen and press ENTER. The message “SAVED OK” displays.The community names are saved to memory and their access modesimplemented.NOTEAny community name assigned in the SNMP CommunityNames screen is a password to its corresponding level ofaccess to Local Management. The community name assignedSuper-User access is the only one that gives the user completeaccess to Local Management.NOTEAll passwords assigned in the 6C105 SNMP CommunityNames screen allow access to both 6C105 Local Managementscreens, and the Local Management screens of the interfacemodules that are installed in the chassis. To configure theinterface module to not allow access to 6C105 LocalManagement screens refer to Section 5.16.NOTEExiting without saving causes a “NOT SAVED?” message todisplay above the SAVE command. Edits are lost if they are notsaved before exiting.
