Deactivation When Head-Up Displayis Turned OffIf the HUD is turned off when Adaptive Cruise Controlis engaged, it will begin to disengage. A warningbeep sounds and the message RADAR CRUISE NOTREADY appears on the Driver Information Center (DIC).See DIC Warnings and Messages on page 3-80 foradditional information. If Adaptive Cruise Controlwas braking when the HUD is turned off, the brakingwill continue briefly.Passing a Vehicle/Adaptive Cruise ControlOverrideTo increase speed to pass a vehicle, use the acceleratorpedal. While you are doing this, the system will notautomatically apply the brakes. A PEDAL APPLIEDACC OVERRIDE message will appear on the HUD.See Head-Up Display (HUD) on page 3-43 for additionalinformation. Once you pass the vehicle and removeyour foot from the accelerator pedal, Adaptive CruiseControl returns to normal operation and the brakescan be applied, if needed.{CAUTION:If you rest your foot on the accelerator pedal,the system will not automatically apply thebrakes. You could crash into a vehicle aheadof you. Do not rest your foot on the acceleratorpedal when using Adaptive Cruise Control.3-29
