If the vehicle is in cruise control when EnhancedStabiliTrak® activates, the cruise control will automaticallydisengage. When road conditions allow you to safely useit again, you may re-engage the cruise control. SeeCruise Control on page 3-17, or Adaptive Cruise Controlon page 3-20 for more information.Enhanced StabiliTrak® comes on automatically in theStability Touring Mode, when the vehicle is started. TheStability Touring Mode is recommended for normaldriving. Enhanced StabiliTrak® also has StabilityCompetitive Mode that is turned on by pressing theTraction Control (TC) Button. See Traction ControlSystem (TCS) on page 4-6. This mode is designed to beused by the performance conscious driver who desiresless stabilty control intervention. See Competitive DrivingMode (STS-V) on page 4-7. When the Stability ControlCompetitive Mode has been activated, traction controloperates in competitive mode and cannot be turned off.The STABILITY COMPETITIVE MODE message will bedisplayed on the DIC. See DIC Warnings and Messageson page 3-80.When operating your vehicle in the Stability CompetitiveMode, the system provides less stability controlintervention. Driving should be adjusted accordingly.When the stability control Stability Competitive Modehas been selected, the Active Steering and MagneticRide Control Touring Mode is not available. Thesesystems are automatically changed to the PerformanceMode, providing more response to road conditionsand quicker steering response. For more information,see “Active Steering and Magnetic Ride ControlMode” in the Index of the vehicle’s Navigation Manual.To assist you with directional control of the vehicle,always leave the system on. Stability control canbe turned off however, by using the traction controlbutton. See Traction Control System (TCS) on page 4-6.The STABILITY SYS OFF message will be displayedon the DIC. See DIC Warnings and Messages onpage 3-80.If there is a problem detected with EnhancedStabiliTrak®, the SERVICE STABILITY SYS messagewill be displayed on the DIC.
