The automaticbraking may feel or sound differentthan if the brakes were appliedmanually. This is normal.Stationary or Very Slow-MovingObjects{ WarningAdaptive Cruise Control (ACC)may not detect and react tostopped or slow-moving vehiclesahead of you. For example, thesystem may not brake for avehicle it has never detectedmoving. This can occur instop-and-go traffic or when avehicle suddenly appears due toa vehicle ahead changing lanes.Your vehicle may not stop andcould cause a crash. Use cautionwhen using ACC. Your completeattention is always required whiledriving and you should be readyto take action and apply thebrakes.ACC Automatically DisengagesACC may automatically disengageand the driver will need to manuallyapply the brakes to slow thevehicle when:. The sensors are blocked.. The Traction Control System(TCS) or electronic stabilitycontrol system has activated orbeen disabled.. There is no traffic and nothing todetect on the side of the road.. There is a fault in the system.. The brakes get heated.The ACC active symbol will not bedisplayed when ACC is no longeractive.Notification to Resume ACCACC will maintain a follow time/distance gap behind a detectedvehicle and slow your vehicle to astop behind that vehicle.If the vehicle ahead has drivenaway and ACC has not resumed,the vehicle ahead symbol will flashas a reminder. In addition, the leftand right sides of the Safety AlertSeat will pulse three times, or threebeeps will sound. See ”Alert Type”and “Go Notifier” in “Collision/Detection Systems” under VehiclePersonalization on page 5-39.When the vehicle ahead drivesaway, press +RES or theaccelerator pedal to resume ACC.If stopped for more thantwo minutes or if the driver door isopened and the driver safety belt isunbuckled, the ACC automaticallyapplies the electric parking brake tohold the vehicle. The electricparking brake status light will turnon. See Parking Brake onpage 9-27. To release the electricparking brake, press the acceleratorpedal.A DIC warning message maydisplay indicating to shift to P (Park)before exiting the vehicle. SeeVehicle Messages on page 5-28.
