It does notdetect children, pedestrians,bicyclists, animals, or objectsbelow the bumper or that are tooclose or too far from the vehicle.In some situations, such as athigher backing speeds, there maynot be enough time for the short,sharp application of the vehiclebrake system to occur. To preventinjury, death, or vehicle damage,even with the Backing WarningSystem, always check the areaaround the vehicle and check allmirrors before backing.When the vehicle is in R (Reverse)and if it is backing too fast to avoida crash with a detected objectdirectly behind the vehicle, the RearAutomatic Braking (RAB) systemmay automatically brake hard to astop to help avoid or reduce theharm caused by a backing crash.{ WarningRear Automatic Braking may notavoid many types of backingcrashes. Do not wait for theautomatic braking to apply. Thissystem is not designed to replacedriver braking and only works inR (Reverse) when an object isdetected directly behind thevehicle. It may not brake or stopin time to avoid a crash. It will notbrake for objects when thevehicle is moving at very lowspeeds. It does not detectchildren, pedestrians, bicyclists,animals, or objects below thebumper or that are too close ortoo far from the vehicle. Toprevent injury, death, or vehicledamage, even with Rear(Continued)Warning (Continued)Automatic Braking, always checkthe area around the vehiclebefore and while backing.Pressing the brake pedal after thevehicle comes to a stop will releasethe Rear Automatic Braking. If thebrake pedal is not pressed soonafter the stop, the Electric ParkingBrake (EPB) may be set. When it issafe, press the accelerator pedalfirmly at any time to override theRear Automatic Braking.{ WarningThere may be instances whereunexpected or undesiredautomatic braking occurs.
