The exterior lamp control isin AUTO.. The light sensor determines it isdaytime.. The parking brake is released orthe vehicle is not in P (Park).The tail lamps, instrument panellights, and other lamps will notbe on.The DRL turn off when theheadlamps are turned to ; or theignition is off.Automatic HeadlampSystemWhen the exterior lamp control isset to AUTO and it is dark enoughoutside, the headlamps come onautomatically.If equipped, the light sensor is ontop of the instrument panel or on thewindscreen near the rearview mirror.Do not cover the sensor; otherwisethe headlamps will come on whenthey are not needed.The system may also turn on theheadlamps when driving through aparking garage or tunnel.If the vehicle is started in a darkgarage, the automatic headlampsystem comes on immediately. If itis light outside when the vehicleleaves the garage, there is a slightdelay before the automatic headlightsystem turns off the headlights.During that delay, the instrumentcluster may not be as bright asusual. Make sure the instrumentpanel brightness control is in the fullbright position. See InstrumentPanel Illumination Control 0 159.When it is bright enough outside,the headlights will turn off and theDaytime Running Lamps (DRL) willturn on.The automatic headlamp systemturns off when the exterior lampcontrol is turned to O or the ignitionis off.Lights On with WipersIf the windscreen wipers areactivated in daylight with the engineon, and the exterior lamp control isin AUTO, the headlamps, parkinglamps, and other exterior lampscome on. The transition time for thelamps coming on varies based onwiper speed. When the wipers arenot operating, these lamps turn off.Move the exterior lamp control to Oor ; to disable this feature.
