VEHICLE CARE 287Tire Pressure forHigh-Speed Operation{ WarningDriving at high speeds, 160 km/h(100 mph) or higher, puts additionalstrain on tires. Sustainedhigh-speed driving causes excessiveheat buildup and can cause suddentire failure. This could cause acrash, and you or others could bekilled. Some high-speed rated tiresrequire inflation pressureadjustment for high-speedoperation. When speed limits androad conditions allow the vehicle tobe driven at high speeds, make surethe tires are rated for high-speedoperation, are in excellentcondition, and are set to the correctcold tire inflation pressure for thevehicle load.Vehicles with P245/45R17 95V, P245/40R18 93V, or 255/35R19 96V sizetires require inflation pressureadjustment when driving the vehicleat speeds of 160 km/h (100 mph) orhigher. Set the cold tire inflationpressure to 280 kPa (41 psi).Vehicles with 245/40R18 93Y and 275/35R18 95Y or 265/35ZR19 (94Y) and295/30ZR19 (100Y) size tires requireinflation pressure adjustment whendriving the vehicle at speeds of160 km/h (100 mph) or higher. Set thecold tire inflation pressure to300 kPa (44 psi).Sustained operation at speeds over160 km/h (100 mph) requires a loadlimit of the driver and one passenger, with no additional cargo. When loadedabove this level, up to the GVW, donot operate the vehicle above160 km/h (100 mph).Return the tires to the recommendedcold tire inflation pressure whenhigh-speed driving has ended.See Vehicle Load Limits 0 183 and TirePressure 0 285.Tire Pressure MonitorSystemCautionModifications made to the TirePressure Monitor System (TPMS) byanyone other than an authorizedservice facility may voidauthorization to use the system. The Tire Pressure Monitor System(TPMS) uses radio and sensortechnology to check tire pressurelevels. The TPMS sensors monitor theair pressure in your vehicle's tires andtransmit tire pressure readings to areceiver located in the vehicle. Each tire, including the spare (ifprovided), should be checked monthlywhen cold and inflated to theinflation pressure recommended bythe vehicle manufacturer on thevehicle placard or tire inflationpressure label. (If your vehicle hastires of a different size than the sizeindicated on the vehicle placard or tire
