SEATS AND RESTRAINTS 65Raising the Seatback{ WarningIf either seatback is not locked, itcould move forward in a suddenstop or crash. That could causeinjury to the person sitting there.Always push and pull on theseatbacks to be sure they arelocked.{ WarningA seat belt that is improperlyrouted, not properly attached,or twisted will not provide theprotection needed in a crash. Theperson wearing the belt could beseriously injured. After raising therear seatback, always check to besure that the seat belts are properlyrouted and attached, and are nottwisted.To raise a seatback:1. Lift the seatback up. Make surethe center seat belt and latch donot get trapped behind the seat.Push the seatback rearward tosecure it in place.A red tab near the seatback leverretracts when the seatback is inplace.2. Push and pull the top of theseatback to be sure it is inposition.3. Lock the seatback using thevehicle key in the cylinder.4. Reconnect the center seat beltmini-latch to the mini-buckle. Donot let the belt twist.5. Pull on the center seat belt tomake sure the mini-latch issecure.6. Repeat the steps to raise theother seatback, if necessary.When the seat is not in use, it shouldbe kept in the upright, locked position.Heated Rear Seats{ WarningIf temperature change or pain tothe skin cannot be felt, the seatheater may cause burns.
