34 Basic Installation of the iDRAC6Configuring Your System to Use an iDRAC6To configure your system to use an iDRAC6, use the iDRAC6Configuration Utility.To run the iDRAC6 Configuration Utility:1 Turn on or restart your system.2 Press when prompted during POST.If your operating system begins to load before you press ,allow the system to finish booting, and then restart your system and try again.3 Configure the LOM.a Use the arrow keys to select LAN Parameters and press .NIC Selection is displayed.b Use the arrow keys to select one of the following NIC modes:• Dedicated — Select this option to enable the remote accessdevice to utilize the dedicated network interface available on theiDRAC6 Enterprise. This interface is not shared with the hostoperating system and routes the management traffic to a separatephysical network, enabling it to be separated from the applicationtraffic. This option is available only if an iDRAC6 Enterprise isinstalled in the system. After you install the iDRAC6 Enterprisecard, ensure that you change the NIC Selection to Dedicated.This can be done either through the iDRAC6 ConfigurationUtility, the iDRAC6 Web Interface, or through RACADM.• Shared — Select this option to share the network interface with thehost operating system. The remote access device network interfaceis fully functional when the host operating system is configured forNIC teaming. The remote access device receives data throughNIC 1 and NIC 2, but transmits data only through NIC 1. If NIC 1fails, the remote access device will not be accessible.
