The Dell ServerAssistant CD contains more information on the utilitypartition.Video DriversYou will need to install the video drivers for the operatingsystem you install on your PowerEdge 4200 system,unless you purchased your system with the operatingsystem already installed by Dell. Use the following pro-cedure to install the video drivers for the Windows NT3.51 operating system. Windows NT 4.0 has the correct driv-ers already installed. NetWare provides a textual interfaceand does not require video drivers.Installing Video Drivers forWindows NT 3.51Select the Create Diskettes category from the Dell ServerAssistant CD main menu and create a diskette of softwaredrivers for Windows NT 3.51. After you make the dis-kette of drivers, use the following procedure to install thevideo drivers:1. Launch Windows NT.2. Run the Windows NT Display program located inthe Control Panel in the Main group.3. Select Change Display Type.4. Select Change from the display options; thenselect Other.5. Insert the diskette of drivers into the diskettedrive on your system.6. When prompted for the correct path, typea:\ati and press .If the diskette is not in drive A, change the drive let-ter designation as appropriate.After the system reads the diskette, it displays theATI Graphics Accelerators option.7. Select the ATI Graphics Accelerators option; thenclick Install.Confirm your choice when prompted to do so, andall appropriate files will be copied to the hard-diskdrive.8. Restart Windows NT.The system will start up using the ATI mach64 driv-ers in 640 x 480 mode and display an application thatallows you to choose a resolution.The maximum resolutions supported by the built-inATI mach64 video controller with 1 megabyte (MB)of video memory are 640 x 480 pixels (16.7 millioncolors) and 800 x 600 pixels (65,536 colors) (non-interlaced), and 1024 x 768 pixels (256 colors)(interlaced).NOTE: If you select a resolution that is not sup-ported by the ATI mach64 (264VT) video controllerwith 1 MB of memory, the operating system will sub-stitute 640 x 480 in 256 colors.Asset Tag UtilityThe Asset Tag utility allows you to enter an asset tagnumber for your computer. The default System Setupscreens (see Figure 4-1, for example) do not show theasset tag number unless you enter one using this utility.NOTE: The Asset Tag utility works only on systems run-ning MS-DOS®.Using the Asset Tag UtilityUse the following procedure to access the Asset Tagutility:1. If you have not already done so, create a bootablesystem utility diskette from the CD.2. Insert the diskette in drive A, and reboot thesystem.After you boot the system with the system utility dis-kette, you can use the Asset Tag utility to enter anasset tag number that you or your organizationassign to the computer. You can also use the AssetTag utility to reenter the computer’s service tag num-ber if that becomes necessary.
