The goals of NetWare testing are to simplifyinstallation and provide the highest quality disksubsystem.Adaptec 78xx series host adapters and their drivers arefully tested and approved for NetWare. This means thatyou can purchase a NetWare drive (certified as “Yes,Tested and Approved”) from a vendor, connect it to yourcomputer system or host adapter, partition it, and create avolume without any compatibility concerns.NOTE: Dell recommends using only Dell-tested drives.Adaptec’s aic7870.dsk driver module is flexible enoughto allow you to connect SCSI drives that are tested andapproved for NetWare as well as standard SCSI drives toa single host adapter. The driver registers each hard-diskdrive accordingly.Drive registration is a user-transparent process; no userinteraction is required. You can tell that the drive hasbeen detected as NetWare-tested and NetWare-approvedif the message NetWare Yes Tested andApproved is included in the drive description stringthat appears when you run monitor.nlm (disk options).Menu Option Default ValueVolume Segments on Drive1 Select for a listRead After Write Verify1 Hardware LevelDrive Light Status1 Not supportedDriver Operating Status1 ActiveRemovable Drive Mount Status2 MountedRemovable Drive Lock Status2 Not Locked1 Valid for both removable and nonremovable typesof SCSI drives2 Valid for removable media onlyOption Setting FunctionDisabled All writes to SCSI disk drives areexecuted with the SCSI Writecommand (0Ah or 2Ah).HardwareLevelAll writes to SCSI disk drives areexecuted with the SCSI Write andVerify command (2Eh) or (if thiscommand is not supported by thedrive) with the SCSI Writecommand (0Ah or 2Ah), followedby the SCSI Verify command (2Fh).Software Level Not supported.
