Always set the power switch to the standbyposition before connecting and disconnectingconnection cords.• Store these instructions in a safe place.After reading, store these instructions along withthe warranty in a safe place.• Note that the illustrations in these instructionsmay differ from the actual set for explanationpurposes.Cautions on installationNoise or disturbance of the picture may be generatedif this unit or any other electronic equipment usingmicroprocessors is used near a tuner or TV.If this happens, take the following steps:• Install this unit as far as possible from the tuner orTV.• Set the antenna wires from the tuner or TV awayfrom this unit’s power supply cord and input/outputconnection cords.• Noise or disturbance tends to occur particularlywhen using indoor antennas or 300 Ω/ohms feederwires. We recommend using outdoor antennasand 75 Ω/ohms coaxial cables.Note:For heat dispersal, do not install this equipment ina confined space such as a book case or similarunit.WallNoteCautions on handling• Switching the input function when inputterminals are not connected.A clicking noise may be produced if the inputfunction is switched when nothing is connected tothe input terminals. If this happens, either turndown the MASTER VOLUME control knob orconnect components to the input terminals.• Muting of PRE OUT terminals and SPEAKERterminals.The PRE OUT terminals and SPEAKER terminalsinclude a muting circuit. Because of this, the outputsignals are greatly reduced for several seconds afterthe power switch is turned on or input function,surround mode or any other-set-up is changed. Ifthe volume is turned up during this time, the outputwill be very high after the muting circuit stopsfunctioning. Always wait until the muting circuitturns off before adjusting the volume.• Whenever the power switch is in the STANDBYstate, the apparatus is still connected on AC linevoltage.Please be sure to turn off the power switch orunplug the cord when you leave home for, say, avacation.Preparing the remote control unitThe included remote control unit (RC-995) can be used to operate not only the AVC-A11XV but other remotecontrol compatible DENON components as well.
