Installation Instructions16 Power Xpert Solar 1500/1670 kW Inverter MN141001EN—October 2014 www.eaton.comVentilationOutdoorThe inverter is designed for outdoor installation. Followingthe working clearances specified in Table 5, no additionalspace is required for the inverter to achieve proper air-flowventilation.IndoorWhen installing indoors (e-house), plan for the inverter’sheat-rejection during daily operation:● Intake/exhaust air volume is 4500 cfm● Recommended room-air exchange rate● Rejected heat is up to 35 kW at full export power underoptimum operation and cooling.● 1 kW = 3412 Btu/hr● 1 Btu = 1,055.0559 JoulesSite RecommendationsEaton recommends that for optimum performance, the frontof the inverter should be facing the South-East direction.Anchoring Requirements—Concrete Pad andSeismicThe Power Xpert Solar 1500/1670 kW Inverter must bebolted to a mounting pad or structure. Installation shall be inaccordance with utility, seismic, and wind requirements ineffect at the location for electrical equipment of the project’spower and voltage class. The inverter and its associated step-up transformersupporting pad shall be constructed according to thebuilding-codes in effect for the location/usage. In theminimum:● Supporting subgrade shall be compacted and well drained● Mounting base made of concrete matching the inverter’sbase dimensions● Pad thickness at least 4 inches of 3,000 psi concrete● Finished to level and flatness not to exceed .025 inchesin 12 inches● Equipment anchor-bolts:● SAE Grade 5, with ASTM structural grade zinc platedthick washers (Refer to Figure 14)● Embedment at least 4–6 inches, as per structuralengineer/spec● Torque1/2-inch UNC Fasteners: 45–50 ft-lb (61–68 Nm)3/4-inch UNC Fasteners: 55–60 ft-lb (74–81 Nm)Consult local codes for seismic and wind-load requirementregarding mounting the Power Xpert Solar 1500/1670 kWInverter.Figure 14.
