Inverter Operation30 Power Xpert Solar 1500/1670 kW Inverter MN141001EN—October 2014 www.eaton.comCommissioning ProcedureThe Power Xpert Solar 1500/1670 kW Inverter requires acommission process to be completed to establish the date ofcommission and start-up for warranty purposes.Commissioning requires a detailed sequence of checks andmanual operation of the inverter at increasing power levels, the details of which are not in this manual. Commissioningthe inverter will also mean the site is in compliance with thePV-array system and utility interface, both of which areoutside the scope of this inverter manual. Complete all thePV-site commissioning steps prior to revenue service. For commissioning to be complete, the inverter mustsynchronize to the utility grid, exporting power withoutfaults, and return to the sleep mode and wake-up upon risingirradiance. Whenever possible, allow the inverter to return tosleep-mode and wake-up the next morning by the naturalprocess of sunset and sunrise, while Eaton commissioningpersonnel are on-site. Eaton recommends the inverter powerproduction to be monitored for 72 hours (3 sunny days) aftercommissioning to ensure proper operation. Please refer toPower Xpert Solar 1500/1670 kW Inverter Station BlockCommissioning Tasks for more details. The power exported to the grid during commissioning (peakkW and accumulated kWh) will be dependent upon theavailable photovoltaic power (kW) during the time ofcommissioning and may not, nor needs-to-be, the inverter’sfull rated power or that of the photovoltaic system.
