Installation InstructionsPower Xpert Solar 1500/1670 kW Inverter MN141001EN—October 2014 www.eaton.com 17DC Input Fuse Options—Re-CombinerThe Power Xpert Solar 1500/1670 kW Inverter offersmaximum flexibility for matching photovoltaic arraysfollowing NEC 690.8 guidelines. Five standard options coverthe most common quantity of the inverter’s input-fuses,easily matching available solar-modules technologies ratedfor 1000 V. All OCPD (Over Current Protection Device) fusesare rated for 1000 Vdc.The Power Xpert Solar inverters are UL 1741 approvedfor mixed-fuse quantity –and– ratings at the re-combiner.Any quantity 160–355 A 2XL fuses can be utilized up tothe physical limit of 24 devices and electrical limit of 5600amperes (reference Inverter DC Section on Page 9 for moreinformation).Use Table 6 to select the inverter’s re-combiner option.Note: When ordering, the fuse quantity and ampere ratingmust be specified, as the option number simplyspecifies the number of fuse-holders to install in theinverter’s re-combiner. Consult Eaton for Option-4 andfurther assistance when considering a mix of inputfuses to ensure the configuration meets the UL 1741certification, as some limitations will apply as noted inInverter DC Section on Page 9.Table 6. Re-Combiner Input Options: Power Xpert Solar 1500/1670 kW InverterNote1 Follow NEC and NFPA 70E, ensuring the non-fuse input circuits are rated for backfeed of theentire re-combiner to any one or few input circuits. Separate photovoltaic circuits in/by conduit.Route and connect the photovoltaic output-circuits to theinverter input-circuits in accordance with the latest editionof the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 andcorresponding local, fire marshal, and utility requirements.Conductor entry is via the bottom of the DC sectionallowing for photovoltaic positive, negative, and groundinputs. Use this same opening for connecting the groundingelectrode conductor. Mechanical engineering drawings in2D DWG format are available for the inverter, as illustratedin Figure 15 and Figure 16.Recommendation: Consult Eaton to verify the inverter designand layout, prior to construction and permitting.Number of Inputs(e.g., Fuseholders)OptionNumberCompression Lug2-Hole: 1/2 inch dia. at 1.75 inch spacingLugs not Supplied with the InverterCompression Lugs—Tin-Plated-Bar: 1/4 inchNone 1 0 As specific to solar site or design:350 kcmil example lugsBurndy p/n YA31A3Ilsco p/n 21ACL-350600 kcmil example lugsBurndy p/n YA36A3Ilsco p/n 21ACL-600Al/Cu16 118 220 322 424 5Other 6 Consult Eaton
