Inverter OperationPower Xpert Solar 1500/1670 kW Inverter MN141001EN—October 2014 www.eaton.com 33Inverter Shut-Down Procedure—AutomaticOperation1. Navigate to the Operation page under the Operationtab select Disable. Contactors K8, K9, and K10 willopen. The Inverter will now be in the READY state.2. Selecting Shutdown Request will open DS1, DS2, andDS3 and CB1. The Inverter will now be in theDischarging state. The DC voltages 1, 2, and 3 willslowly discharge t and the inverter will move to the OFFstate before reaching 0 Vdc. Refer to image belowDe-Energize ProcedureDo not proceed to the de-energize and operate the inverterunless authorized. The Power Xpert Solar 1500/1670 kW Inverter is designed tobe connected to AC and PV-DC voltages sources. It stores asignificant amount of electrical energy from both its AC andDC energy sources.DANGER of Electric Shock HazardWARNING!CAUTION!NOTICE!The inverter must be considered energized whenever:● The medium-voltage transformer’s Vacuum faultinterrupter (VFI) is closed● The medium-voltage transformer’s isolation-disconnecthandle is closed● The medium-voltage transformer’s MV and LV windingsare energized● The inverter’s control-power circuit breaker CB2 is closed● The inverter’s main output circuit breaker CB1 is closed● The customer control-power circuit breaker CB4 is closed● Any of the PV System’s external (to the inverter)disconnects are closedClosed (ON) means the switching-device contacts areengaged and able to transfer energy: Voltage or Current.Reference the site’s PV system and inverter single-linediagram, Figure 4.● The inverter does not provide a means to isolate utilityvoltage on the transformer-side of circuit breaker CB1which is located inside the inverter AC cabinet (section)● The inverter does not provide a means to isolate utilityvoltage on the transformer-side of circuit breaker CB2which are located inside the inverter AC cabinet (section)● The SEL relay and CTs will be energized whenever thetransformer is energized.
