The latch is usedfor self-cleaning only.For many foods, especially roasts and poultry, internal food temperature is the best test for doneness. The temperatureprobe takes the guesswork out of cooking foods to the exact doneness you want.Use of probes other than the one providedwith this product may result in damage tothe probe.Use the handles of the probe and plugwhen inserting and removing them fromthe food and outlet. To avoid damaging your probe, do not use tongsto pull on the cable when removing it. To avoid breaking the probe, make sure food iscompletely defrosted before inserting. To prevent possible burns, do not unplug theprobe from the outlet until the oven has cooled. Never leave your probe inside the oven duringa self-cleaning cycle. Do not store the probe in the oven.The temperature probe has askewer-like probe at one end and aplug at the other end that goes intothe outlet in the oven.After preparing the meat and placing it ona trivet or on the broiler pan grid, followthese directions for proper probeplacement.Insert the probe completely into the meat.It should not touch the bone, fat or gristle.For roasts with no bone, insert the probeinto the meatiest part of the roast. Forbone-in ham or lamb, insert the probe intothe center of the lowest large muscle.Insert the probe into the center of dishessuch as meat loaf or casseroles.Insert the probe into the meatiest part ofthe inner thigh from below and parallel tothe leg of a whole turkey.How to Set the Upper Oven For Cooking When Using the ProbeInsert the probe into the food.Plug the probe into the outlet in theoven. Make sure it’s pushed all theway in. Close the oven door.Touch the PROBE pad.Touch the number pads to setthe desired internal food or meattemperature between 100°F and 200°F.Touch the BAKE pad.Touch the number pads to set thedesired oven temperature.Touch the START pad.The display will flash if the probe is inserted into theoutlet and you have not set a probe temperature andtouched the START pad.The display will show LO until the internaltemperature of the food reaches 100°F;then the changing internal temperaturewill be shown.When the internal temperature of thefood reaches the number you have set,the probe and the oven turn off andthe oven control signals. To stop thesignal, touch the CLEAR/OFF pad. Usehot pads to remove the probe fromthe food. Do not use tongs to pull onit—they might damage it.To change the oven temperature duringprobe cooking, touch the BAKE pad andthen the number pads to set the newtemperature. If the probe is removed from the food before thefinal temperature is reached, a tone will soundand the display will flash until the probe isremoved from the oven.
