Keep the oven free from grease buildup. Place the oven shelves in the desiredposition while the oven is cool. Pulling out the shelf to the stop-lock is aconvenience in lifting heavy foods. It is alsoa precaution against burns from touchinghot surfaces of the door or oven walls. Thelowest position is not designed to slide. Do not heat unopened food containers.Pressure could build up and the containercould burst, causing an injury. Do not use aluminum foil anywhere in theoven except as described in this manual.Misuse could result in a fire hazard ordamage to the range. When using cooking or roasting bags in theoven, follow the manufacturer’s directions. Do not use your oven to dry newspapers.If overheated, they can catch fire. Use only glass cookware that isrecommended for use in gas ovens. Always remove the broiler pan from range assoon as you finish broiling. Grease left in thepan can catch fire if oven is used withoutremoving the grease from the broiler pan. When broiling, if meat is too close to theflame, the fat may ignite. Trim excess fat toprevent excessive flare-ups. Make sure the broiler pan is in placecorrectly to reduce the possibility ofgrease fires. If you should have a grease fire in the broilerpan, press the CLEAR/OFF pad, and keepthe oven door closed to contain fire untilit burns out. For safety and proper cooking performance,always bake and broil with the oven doorclosed. Never place, use or self-clean the lower ovendrawer pan in the upper oven.Stand away from the range when opening the door of a hot oven. The hot air and steam that escape cancause burns to hands, face and eyes.UPPER OVENWARNING: NEVER cover anyslots, holes or passages in the oven bottomor cover an entire rack with materials suchas aluminum foil. Doing so blocks air flowthrough the oven and may cause carbonmonoxide poisoning. Aluminum foil liningsmay also trap heat, causing a fire hazard.
