Fuel and Fuel StoragePellet fuel quality can fluctuate. This appliance isdesigned to burn a wide variety of pellet fuel, givingyou the freedom to choose the most economical fuelin your area.Hearth & Home Technologies strongly recommendsthat you choose a fuel that is recognized by the PelletFuels Institute (PFI)Pellet fuels are made from sawdust, or other woodfibers. The source material determines the ash andheat content. Higher ash content fuel, or StandardGrade, may contain bark, leaves, stems, or other by-products. Higher ash may not mean more or less heatvalue, but it will require more maintenance and clean-ing. Low ash content fuel, or Premium Grade, is madefrom only the cleanest sawdust. Cleaning and mainte-nance are greatly reduced while typically higher heatvalue is experienced.APPROVED FUELS• Wood Pellets- Any grade of wood or biomass pel-letized fuel. Pellets should be either 1/4 inch or5/16 inch (6 - 8mm) in diameter, and no more than1½" (38mm) in length.• Shelled Field Corn- Corn is approved for use asa fuel ONLY when mixed with pellets. The testedmixture is up to 50% corn. Since corn is grown asa feed source, and not as a fuel, there are manypossible inconsistencies with regards to burning.Because of this, you may not be successful withthe maximum mixture, and may need to reducethe percentage of corn in the mix.
