Before Your First Fire• Be sure the appliance is installed properly and thatall safety requirements have been met. Starting a Fire - "MANUAL"1. With the mode selector in the "OFF" position, andthe Feed Adjuster NOT on "Test", plug the powercord into a properly grounded receptacle.2. Fill the hopper with DRY fuel.3. Turn the FEED ADJUSTER dial to "Test". This willrun the feed motor for one minute. If you begin tosee fuel entering the burn pot, you can stop thetest cycle. Return to #4 or #5 to start out.4. Turn the mode selector dial to the desired mode.This will start the combustion blower operating.If Room Temp is selected, be sure to turn thetemperature dial above the current room tem-perature.5. Fill the burn pot with a mixture of wood pellets andstarting gel.6. Light the starting gel with a match, and close thedoor.7. Only after the ESP temperature increases, will thefeeder start operating to increase the fire size.NEVER APPLY STARTING GEL TO THE FUEL INTHE BURN POT WITHOUT THE COMBUSTIONBLOWER OPERATING.WARNING"NEVER USE GASOLINE, GASOLINE-TYPELANTERN FUEL, KEROSENE, CHARCOALLIGHTER FLUID, OR SIMILAR LIQUIDS TOSTART OR "FRESHEN UP " A FIRE IN THISHEATER. USE OF ANY OTHER TYPE OF FUELWILL VOID THE APPLIANCE WARRANTY.E. Draft Test Procedure• Using a 9/16" wrench, remove the draft test portplug bolt, located to the left inside the firebox. Thisbolt threads downward through the outside of thebody. Externally, the opened hole is located abovethe ash pan spring latch on the left.• Insert thedraft meterhose into thetest port.• Be sure themeter is ca-pable of a scalebetween 0 and1 inch WaterColumn. Zero themeter if necessary,and be sure it is setup to read in negativepressure.• Be sure the ash pan, door, and hopper lid are allclosed and latched.• Turn the feed adjuster to "Test" mode.• During the first minute of test, the combustionblower will be on high. Record the high draftreading here ____________-W.C. The high draftshould be above -0.5" W.C. but no higher than -1"W.C.• After a minute, the combustion blower will go tolow speed. Here you want to see a reading be-tween -0.30" and -0.35". If necessary, adjust thedraft voltage using the low draft adjustment screwon the circuit board (See Page 24). Clockwisewill increase the draft and counter-clockwise willdecrease it.• Once set, record the low draft reading here:___________ -W.C.• Be sure and turn off of "Test" mode. Disconnectthe meter and return the plug bolt to the test port.The optimal method of operation is in Room Tempmode, with the Ignition switch set to Automatic.
