Shut-DownDuring operation in ROOM TEMP/ AUTOMATICmode, the appliance will shut down naturally whendemand is met or exceeded. In other modes of opera-tion, the unit will shut-down only if or when it runs outof fuel.To kill or stop a fire, turn the mode selector dial to"OFF". The shut down cycle will slow or stop thefeeder to gradually cool the fire and ensure that all ofthe exhaust gases are safely expelled before stoppingthe combustion blower. This not only ensures removalof all smoke and gases, it also keeps the fire from at-tempting to travel into the fuel storage hopper. For thisreason; Hearth & Home Technologies recommendsinstalling a battery back-up in areas where frequentpower outages are experienced. Relaxation ModeAn added feature for those times when you'd like tounwind watching a fire but yet do not want all the heat.With the igniter switch in the "MANUAL" position andthe mode selector in "STOVE TEMP", your tempera-ture dial can be set up to a #3 and the distributionblower will be disabled. As you turn up the tempera-ture dial and the firebegins to burn hotter,the distribution blowerwill begin to operate.Keep Hopper Lid, Ash Pan, and Fire viewing doorsclosed while in operation. Maintain all door sealsand gaskets in good condition. Replace gasketswhen necessary using parts obtained throughyour Harman dealer.G. Starting a Fire - "AUTOMATIC"1. With the mode selector in the "OFF" position, andthe Feed Adjuster NOT on "Test", plug the powercord into a properly grounded receptacle.2. Fill the hopper with DRY fuel.3. Turn the FEED ADJUSTER dial to "Test". This willrun the feed motor for one minute. If you begin tosee fuel entering the burn pot, you can stop thetest cycle. Return to #4 or #5 to start out.4. Position the Igniter switch to AUTOMATIC.5. Turn the mode selector dial to the desired mode.This will start the combustion blower, feeder, andigniter operating. If Room Temp is selected, besure to turn the temperature dial above thecurrent room temperature.6. After the initial feed cycle is typically when you'llbegin to see sparks, smoke, or flames.H. Maintaining the FireOnce the Distribution Blower begins operation, yourfire is well established. Now, you can make anydesired adjustments to the temperature dial. Remem-ber, in STOVE TEMP, the temperature dial uses theinner portion of the scale (#1 thru 7). In ROOM TEMP,select the desired temperature in Fahrenheit from 50to 90 degrees.The flames should appear brisk and bright. If you seedeep orange and lazy flames, it is usually an indica-tion that the burn pot needs to be cleaned. Refer tothe Maintenance Section of this manual.WARNING! RIsK Of fIRE!
