406 IBM eX5 Implementation Guide8.6.1 Troubleshooting HX5 problemsFor general troubleshooting advice for the HX5, see the HX5 Problem Determination andService Guide, which is available at this website:http://ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?lndocid=MIGR-5084529Scalability card issuesThe scalability card enables the HX5 to form a complex. Consider the following points whenusing the scalability card: If the scalability card is not attached correctly, the HX5 blades appear as individualcomplex systems. In our example, as shown in Figure 8-41, you can see that the HX5blades in slots 1 and 2 appear as two separate complex systems. If the scalability card is removed from an HX5 complex with an existing partition, you mustensure that the scalability card is reattached correctly. You need to remove the scalabilitycard, for example, if replacing a memory DIMM in the primary node. Failing to reattach thescalability card correctly removes the partition information and both blades that formed thecomplex appear as individual complex systems again, as shown in Figure 8-41. When a scalability card is attached, allow approximately 5 - 10 minutes for the IMM toinitialize and the complex information to update in the Scalable Complex Informationconfiguration page. Failing to allow this update will prevent you from creating a partition.Figure 8-41 An example of a scalability card that is not installed correctly
