SoL provides a means tomanage servers remotely by using a command-line interface (CLI) over a Telnet or SecureShell (SSH) connection.SoL can give you remote access to the UEFI/BIOS and power-on self test (POST) messages.Using SoL, you can log in to the machine remotely. It can give you access to special operatingsystem functions during boot.In the x3850 X5 and x3690 X5, the serial port is shared with the integrated managementmodule (IMM). The IMM can take control of the shared serial port to perform text consoleredirection and to redirect serial traffic, using Serial over LAN (SoL).In the HX5, the Advanced Management Module (AMM) CLI provides access to the textconsole command prompt through the SoL connection.
