14 ENGLISHReturn the blade guard and center cover to its originalposition. Then tighten the hex socket bolt clockwiseto secure the center cover. Release the handle fromthe raised position by pulling the stopper pin. Lowerthe handle to make sure that the blade guard movesproperly. Make sure the shaft lock has released spindlebefore making cut.Connecting a vacuum cleanerWhen you wish to perform clean cutting operation,connect a Makita vacuum cleaner.Dust bag1 23► 1. Dust bag 2. Dust nozzle 3. FastenerTo attach the fastener, align the top end of the fastenerwith the triangular mark on the dust bag.The use of the dust bag makes cutting operationscleaner and dust collection easier. To attach the dustbag, fit it onto the dust nozzle.When the dust bag is about half full, remove the dustbag from the tool and pull the fastener out. Emptythe dust bag of its contents, tapping it lightly so as toremove particles adhering to the insides which mighthamper further collection.Securing workpieceWARNING:• It is extremely important to always secure theworkpiece correctly with the proper type of vise.Failure to do so may result in serious personal injuryand cause damage to the tool and/or the workpiece.• After a cutting operation do not raise theblade until it has come to a complete stop. Theraising of a coasting blade may result in seriouspersonal injury and damage to the workpiece.• When cutting a workpiece that is longerthan the support base of the saw, the mate-rial should be supported the entire lengthbeyond the support base and at the sameheight to keep the material level. Properworkpiece support will help avoid blade pinchand possible kickback which may result in seri-ous personal injury. Do not rely solely on thevertical vise and/or horizontal vise to secure theworkpiece. Thin material tends to sag. Holder assembly 6. Vise knob 7. ScrewThe vertical vise can be installed in two positions oneither the left or right side of the guide fence or theholder assembly. Insert the vise rod into the hole inthe guide fence or the holder assembly and tighten thescrew to secure the vise rod.
