21 ENGLISHWood facingUse of wood facing helps to assure splinter-free cutsin workpieces. Attach a wood facing to the guide fenceusing the holes in the guide fence.See the figure concerning the dimensions for a sug-gested wood facing.Over 15mm (5/8") Over 420mm (16-1/2")1 150mm-60mm(2"-2-3/8")27mm (1-1/16")85mm(3-3/8")70mm(2-3/4")85mm(3-3/8")70mm(2-3/4")► 1. HolesCAUTION:• Use the straight wood of even thickness as thewood facing.WARNING:• Use screws to attach the wood facing to theguide fence. The screws should be installedso that the screw heads are below the sur-face of the wood facing so that they will notinterfere with the positioning of the materialbeing cut. Misalignment of the material beingcut can case unexpected movement during thecutting operation which may result in a loss ofcontrol and serious personal injury.NOTICE:• When the wood facing is attached, do not turn theturn base with the handle lowered. The blade and/or the wood facing will be damaged.Cutting repetitive lengthsCAUTION: For the tool equipped with the hold-ers and the holder assemblies as standard acces-sories, this type of use is not permitted due to thecountry regulations.123► 1. Set plate 2. Holder 3. ScrewWhen cutting several pieces of stock to the samelength, ranging from 220 mm (8-5/8") to 385 mm (15-1/8"), use of the set plate (optional accessory) will facil-itate more efficient operation. Install the set plate on theholder (optional accessory) as shown in the figure.Align the cutting line on your workpiece with either theleft or right side of the groove in the kerf board, andwhile holding the workpiece from moving, move theset plate flush against the end of the workpiece. Thensecure the set plate with the screw. When the set plateis not used, loosen the screw and turn the set plate outof the way.NOTE:• Use of the holder-rod assembly (optional acces-sory) allows cutting repetitive lengths up to2,200 mm (7.2 ft) approximately.Groove cutting1► 1. Cut grooves with bladeA dado type cut can be made by proceeding as follows:Adjust the lower limit position of the blade using theadjusting screw and the stopper arm to limit the cuttingdepth of the blade. Refer to "Stopper arm" sectiondescribed on previously. After adjusting the lower limit position of the blade, cutparallel grooves across the width of the workpiece usinga slide (push) cut as shown in the figure. Then removethe workpiece material between the grooves with achisel.WARNING:• Do not attempt to perform this type of cutby using a wider type blade or dado blade.Attempting to make a groove cut with a widerblade or dado blade could lead to unexpectedcutting results and kickback which may result inserious personal injury.• Be sure to return the stopper arm to theoriginal position when performing other thangroove cutting. Attempting to make cuts withthe stopper arm in the incorrect position couldlead to unexpected cutting results and kickbackwhich may result in serious personal injury.
