iPod SETUPThe iPod Setup menu allows you to preset the following associatedsettings when iPod is the selected source.Enabled: Select “Yes” to enable iPod as a Source or “No” to disable it.Auto Connect: Select “Yes” to automatically enable and connect theiPod player docked in the linked NAD iPod docking station when Source5 (the default iPod source allocation in the T 187) is selected. Select “No”if you do not want a docked iPod to be automatically connected.Menu Timeout: Set the time for the OSD to revert to the “NowPlaying” display when the iPod menu has been left idle (no scrolling ornavigation being done) for the specified time out time. For the “NowPlaying” OSD to be shown, there should be a song paused or beingplayed before going to the iPod menu. You can set the “Menu Timeout”between the range 5s to 60s at 5s increments. If you do not want forthe menu to timeout, select “0ff”.SPEAKER SETUPAfter connecting all ancillary sources and other combinations, the SpeakerSetup menu will guide you on how to manage and setup your speakers inorder to achieve optimum sound acoustics in your listening environment.The following are the Speaker Setup Menu sections.IMPORTANT NOTICEThe T 187 is an AV Surround Sound Preamplifier and therefore hasno speakers. The mention of “Speaker(s)” in this manual refers to thespeakers of your external amplifier as interfaced with the T 187.AUDYSSEY AUTO CALIBRATIONIt has been shown that many, if not most, surround sound systems are notaccurately setup and calibrated. To be done properly, calibration requiresspecial knowledge and instrumentation that the average person probablydoesn’t possess.The Audyssey Auto Setup and Calibration featured in T 187 uses amicrophone, along with sophisticated digital electronics built into yourT 187, to automatically setup and calibrate the T 187 to the exact speakersand speaker placement of your own unique Home Theatre.The following measurements are performed:t %FUFDUJPO Speaker configuration is detected including number ofsurround speakers and whether a subwoofer and center channel isconnected.t 4J[F T 187 crossover is set based on each channel’s signal handlingcapability and the subwoofer crossover is automatically set.t -FWFM SPL of each speaker is matched within 1dB at the microphoneposition.t %JTUBODF is accurately set to within 1 foot (30 centimeters) of themicrophone for each speaker position.t 1PMBSJUZ the setup program will detect and notify the user if anyspeakers are connected improperly.
