Adding Clients to Windows DomainsStoring Domain Credentials in an NVDD Server Directory 159Windows 2000Professional ClientsThe procedure is the same as for Windows XP Professional clientsdescribed in the previous section, except that there is no Network IDwizard in Windows 2000. Instead, you have to do the following toreplace Network ID wizard operations:1 Run the Control Panel > System applet.2 Select the Computer Name tab.3 Click the Change button.4 If the client is indicated to be a member of a domain, make it amember of a workgroup. Do not reboot when Windows asks youto reboot.5 Select the Domain option to add the client into the domain. Pro-vide user credentials as needed (you must provide the creden-tials of a user that can add and remove computers in the desireddomain).6 Validate each step until Windows asks you to reboot.7 Reboot the client computer.Client Names As domain controllers use the client name to retrieve the securitydata relative to each client so that it can connect to the domain, it isrequired that each client always get the same name. To achieve thisyou can use client host name and static DHCP entries (DHCP reser-vations). If a client name changes, it must be added to the domainagain.Adding a NewClient to theDomainWhen you need to add a new client computer to the domain, if theNeoware Domain Wizard has already been applied to the virtual vol-ume, you do not need to re-apply it. You just need to make the newclient computer boot on the virtual volume in the same way that youadded the clients previously. Use the Network Identification Wizard, just as you did for the other clients. It is possible to add Neoware Image Manager clients to the domainwithout having to sit in front of each client to perform domain mem-bership subscription.
