Sulfuric acid in batteries can cause severeinjury if allowed to contact the skin or eyes.• Explosive hydrogen gas is vented from the batteries through openings in the battery caps. Do notsmoke while servicing the batteries.• Remove all jewelry. Wear safety glasses, rubber gloves and a rubber apron• Do not allow tools to touch more than one battery terminal at a time• Electrical components in this machine can be severely damaged if the batteries are not installed andconnected properly.• The batteries are extremely heavy and may require a lifting device or assistance to remove andreplace into the machine.1 Turn the off the machine and disconnect themain battery connector (A)2 Pull back the insulating boot (B) and disconnectthe main battery connector’s positive terminalat (C) Do not disconnect at lug (D) because thatsecures the 150 amp fuse3 In a similar manner, remove the main batteryconnector’s negative terminal However, there isno fuse at the negative terminal4 Taking care to not short across the batteryterminals, remove each of the interconnectingcables (E) from the batteries5 Make sure the battery straps are not damaged or cut, and thenlift out each of the batteries from the battery bay6 Install the new batteries into the compartment Note theorientation of the batteries shown to the right7 Reconnect the battery cables– All cables are connected positive-to-negative for aseries connection between all 6 batteries– Position the cables so the battery caps can be easilyremoved for battery service– Take care to not over torque the cable connector, asthis may damage the battery post8 Coat the terminals with spray-on battery terminalcoating (available at most auto parts stores)AED CBE
