127Provisioning Client User GuideIP Client ManagerThis section describes how to provision IPCMs and IPCM clusters and includesthe following topics:• “What is an IPCM?” on page 127• “Adding an IPCM cluster” on page 128• “Assigning and modifying domains to an IPCM” on page 129• “Deleting an IPCM cluster” on page 132What is an IPCM?The IP Client Manager (IPCM) is a network application capable of managingmany internal IP Phones while maintaining the call state and phone settings. TheIPCM also implements features (for example, stock queries and personaldirectory) on the IP Phones. An IPCM belongs to an IPCM Cluster. This cluster is used to define whichdomains or subdomains the IPCM services. An IPCM can service any user andany IP Phone that belongs to a domain or subdomain that is assigned to its cluster.Users that belong to a domain or subdomain that is not assigned to the cluster, andattempt to log on through an IP Phone, are refused service. IP Phones that belongto a domain or subdomain that is not assigned to the cluster and attempt to connectto the IPCM are refused service. The following items must be provisioned for the IPCM to manage IP Phones:• Domains and subdomains must be assigned to the IPCM Cluster.• IPCM specific parameters must be provisioned at the domain level.Note: You must have IPCM provisioning rights to perform the tasks inthis section.
