Themanagement rights assigned to a domain administrator dictate the control youhave over domains.Domain typesThree types of domains are available:• root domain• subdomain• foreign domainRoot domainA root domain is the highest level domain. You can create a root domain. Anexample of a root domain is nortel.com.SubdomainA subdomain is a category of domains. With subdomains, you can dividesubscribers under a domain into smaller groups. You can also control routing andaccess to services by members of the group.Under each subdomain, you can add subdomains, service packages, users,devices, and telephony routes. The levels of nesting of subdomains is not limited.Each subdomain inherits the parameter values from the root domain.Tip: Nortel recommends that domain and subdomain groups begeographically based.
