28User’s GuidePaperPaper & envelope typesThe manufacturer of this fax machine recommend the followingguidelines when selecting paper and envelopes for use in your faxmachine:• Paper and envelopes should be stored flat and away from moisture,direct sunlight and heat sources.• It is recommended to use a smooth finished paper such as copier orlaser type paper with a Sheffield (smoothness) rating of 250 or less.If in doubt, please ask your paper supplier.• It is recommended to use laser type envelopes.• The use of heavily laid or textured paper will seriously impact onthe life of the image drum.• Do not use very smooth, shiny/glossy paper.• Do not use heavily embossed headed paper.• Avoid printing on both sides and putting paper through the faxmachine twice.• Avoid using paper with perforations, cut outs and ragged edges.• Do not use envelopes with windows or metal clasps.• Do not use envelopes with self sealing flaps.• Avoid using damaged or curled envelopes.Note:Printing on envelopes can only be carried out if the optional PCinterface board is installed in your fax machine. Also, userfunction 13:1’ST PAPER SIZE must be set to Other. SeeProgramming later in this user’s guide.Loading paperYour fax machine can hold up to 250 sheets of standard-weight (75 g/m2,20 lb) paper. Available sizes are A4, letter size and legal size.Your fax machine automatically reduces the vertical length of the pageimages it receives to fit on the paper loaded in your fax machine (down to75% of the original length). For example, if a document created originallyon legal-size paper is received, your fax machine reduces the receivedpages to fit on A4 or letter-size paper.
