For example,you can communicate with the service provider server, or with your computer ifyou are traveling. See “Connection preferences” later in this chapter for a completeexplanation of how to create modem configurations.After you configure both the Connection and Network preferences, you canestablish a PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) connection with your service provider ordial-in server. You can do this either by using menu commands from the NetworkPreferences screen or by using a third-party application.NOTE TCP/IP enables you to connect to your service provider or dial-in server withapplications that allow you to view the transmitted data.
