Appendix B Frequently Asked Questions406E-mail problemsProblem SolutionI am having problemsaccessing my account.Occasionally you may experience problems using an e-mailaccount after you set it up. Be sure to follow the account setupprocedures. See “Setting up and managing e-mail accounts”in Chapter 14. If you followed the procedure and areexperiencing problems using the account, verify that theaccount complies with your e-mail provider’s requirements byfollowing these steps:n Verify both your password and your username for your e-mail account.n Verify that your network settings and/or your Wi-Fi orbroadband wireless account information is accurate.n If you are connecting using an external modem device suchas a PalmModem® accessory, verify that you have anaccount with an ISP and are able to dial in over a voicephone line.n If you are connecting using a mobile phone through eithera cable or the IR port on your handheld, verify that youhave either a data-enabled GSM or a high-speed GPRSaccount with your wireless service provider.n Some wireless service providers require you to be on theirnetwork to use your e-mail account. If this is the case, besure to use your provider's network as the connection typefor the account.n Some wireless service providers have other requirementsspecific to their service. For example, Yahoo! requires youto set up POP mail forwarding for your Yahoo! account inorder to download e-mail messages to your handheld.Check with your service provider to see if any provider-specific requirements exist.n Service provider settings frequently change.
