17Time Code & User’s BitTime codeThe time code signal is generated by the time codegenerator and recorded on the tape, and its value isread by the time code reader. The time code is usedto display the absolute position of the tape in hour,minute, second and frame increments.The time code is written in the sub-code area (dataarea) on the helical track. For this reason, the VTR’splayback speed can be read out from the stop modeto the slow-motion playback to high-speed playback.The time code value is shown on the display andsuperimposed on the screen.TCR 00 : 07 : 04 : 24t t t tHours Minutes Seconds FramesUser’s bitThe user’s bit refers to the 32-bit (8-digit) informationframe which is the only part of the time code signalsopen to the user for use.
