Others112VQT0W82About dirt on the image sensorThis camera features an interchangeablelens system so dirt may get inside thecamera body when changing lenses.Depending on the recording conditions, dirton the image sensor may appear on therecorded picture.Do not change lenses where there is a lotof dust, and always attach the body capwhen a lens is not attached to the camera,so that dirt or dust does not get inside thecamera body. Remove any dirt on the bodycap before attaching it.Clean any dirt on the image sensor usingthe steps below.Removing dirt on the image sensorBlack spots may appear on the recordedpicture if dirt or dust gets on the imagesensor. The image sensor is very delicateand easily scratched. If it becomesnecessary to clean the image sensor,always use the following steps.• Use the AC adaptor when cleaning. If youuse the battery and the remaining batterypower becomes low during cleaning, theshutter will close and the shutter curtainsand the mirror may be damaged.1 Detach the lens. (P16)2 Turn the camera on.3 Set [NO RELEASE WITHOUT LENS] inthe [CUSTOM] menu to [OFF]. (P87)4 Set the focus mode lever to [MF].(P42)5 Set the shutter speed to [B] (Bulb).(P39)6 Press and hold the shutter button.• The mirror goes up and the shuttercurtains open.7 Clean the image sensor.• Blow off the dust on the surface of theimage sensor with a commerciallyavailable blower brush. Be careful not toblow too strongly.• Do not put the blower brush furtherinside than the lens mount.• Do not let the blower brush touch theimage sensor as the image sensor mayget scratched.• Do not use any objects except a blowerbrush to clean the image sensor.8 Release the shutter button.• The shutter curtains close and themirror goes down when the camera isturned off. Be careful that the blowerbrush does not get caught in the shuttercurtains.9 Turn the camera off.∫ BatteryThe battery is a rechargeable lithium ionbattery.Its ability to generate power comes fromthe chemical reaction that takes placeinside it. This reaction is susceptible tothe surrounding temperature andhumidity. If the temperature is too highor too low, the operating time of thebattery will become shorter.After use, be sure to remove the battery.Bring charged spare batteries whengoing out.• Be aware that the operating time of thebattery becomes shorter in lowtemperature conditions such as at a skiresort.• When you travel, do not forget to bring theAC adaptor (supplied) so that you cancharge the battery in the country that youare traveling in.If you drop the battery accidentally,check to see if the body of the batteryand the terminals are damaged.• Inserting a damaged battery in thecamera will damage the camera.Downloaded from ManualsCamera.com Manuals
