(P75)Illuminating the subject makes it easier forthe camera to focus when recording in lowlight conditions that make focusing difficult.• Be careful about the following when usingthe AF assist lamp.– Do not look at the AF assist lamp fromclose up.– Do not attach the lens hood.– Do not cover the AF assist lamp withyour fingers or other objects.• When you do not want to use the AFassist lamp (e.g. when taking pictures ofanimals in dark places), set the[AF ASSIST LAMP] to [OFF]. In this case,it will become more difficult to focus on thesubject.• When you use a lens with a large filterdiameter that obscures the AF assistlamp, shadows may appear on the pictureand the performance of the camera maydeteriorate.Press [ ] to display the [REC] modemenu and select the item to set. (P75)This mode detects jitter and compensatesfor it.• Check that the [O.I.S.] switch on the lensis set to [ON].• The stabilizer function may not beeffective in the following cases.– When there is a lot of jitter.– When the zoom magnification is high.– When using the digital zoom.– When taking pictures while following amoving subject.– When the shutter speed becomesslower to take pictures indoors or in darkplaces.Be careful of camera jitter when you pressthe shutter button.• You cannot select [OIS MODE] if you usea lens with no stabilizer function.[AF ASSIST LAMP]Focusing in low lightconditions becomes easier[ON] If the AF assist lamp A is set to[ON], it turns on when you pressthe shutter button halfway in darkplaces etc. The effective range ofthe AF assist lamp is about 1.5 m(4.92 feet) to about 3.0 m(9.84 feet).
