6 – SANsurfer Control iXConfiguring TargetsIS0053302-00 7 PRELIMINARY 6-25Q6.5Configuring TargetsAfter configuring the QLA4010/4010C HBA, you can enter iSCSI targets you wantto discover. Start SANsurfer Control iX (see section 6.2), select your host and HBA,then click the Target Settings tab. When the QLA4010/4010C HBA arrives fromthe factory, there are no targets listed. Add iSCSI targets by either entering specificiSCSI target information (IP address and iSCSI name, see section 6.5.2) or byentering an IP address and discovering the devices behind that address (seesection 6.5.1).If you want the targets to be bound to the QLA4010/4010C HBA, select theAuto-bind Discovered Targets check box. All targets, whether entered manuallyor found using discovery, will be automatically bound to the HBA (the check box inthe Bind column will be selected) when the target configuration is saved.6.5.1Configuring Using DiscoveryUse the discovery mechanism to configure a target that supports and responds tothe SendTargets command by following these steps:1. Start SANsurfer Control iX, select your host and QLA4010/4010C HBA, thenclick the Target Settings tab.2. Click the first available line under IP Address (see figure 6-14).3. Enter the IP address of the target to which you want to connect. This targetmust support the SendTargets command.4. Leave the iSCSI Name field blank.5. If you want all of the discovered targets to be restored when theQLA4010/4010C HBA is reset, select the Auto-discover targets (Rediscoveron Save) check box.6. Click Save. The QLA4010/4010C HBA does the following:a. Resets (reboots the HBA only) if you have made changes to the firmwareconfiguration parameters in section 6.6.1.b. Connects to the targetc. Queries the target through a SendTargets commandd. Discovers all devices allowed by the targete. Shows the targets as dynamic (the Dynamic (read only) check box isselected).
