LRI4E / HRI4E Direct Vent Gas Insert | 17|17installationAir Shutters are required to increase or decrease the amount of air that ismixed with the fuel before combustion. This will have an affect on how wellthe fuel combusts and how the flame appears physically.Low primary air will leave a taller, yellower flame while higher primary air willleave a lower, bluer flame. This setting is largely for appearance, however, not enough primary air maylead to carboning, sooting or a flame that reaches the top of the firebox.Situations that may require more primary air are; units that are burningpropane, units installed at higher elevations or units that are run on highmost of the time. The LRI4E / HRI4E is equipped with an air shutter that is accessible fromoutside the firebox and can be adjusted during operation.Aeration adjustments should only be made after the unit has been on for 30minutes to 1 hour.Slide the Air Shutter Lever towards you to increase the primary air setting.Slide the Air Shutter away from you to decrease the primary air setting.Below you will see a chart showing the minimum primary air settings. These are set from the factory, but due to fuel conversions or installationconditions, the air setting may need to be adjusted.Close OpenUnit Fuel Type Min.
