47The air filter prevents dust from accumulating on the surface of the optical elements inside the projector. Should the air filterbecomes clogged with dust particles, it will reduce cooling fan’s effectiveness and may result in a buildup of internal heatand adversely affect the life of the projector. Clean the air filter by following the steps below.RECOMMENDATIONWe recommend avoiding dusty/smoky environments whenoperating the projector Usage in these environment maycause a poor image qualityWhen using the projector under dusty or smoky conditions, dustmay accumulate on a lens, LCD panels, or optical elements insidethe projector degrading the quality of a projected image.When the symptoms above are noticed, contact your authorizeddealer or service station for proper cleaning.Cleaning the Air FilterUnplug the AC power cord before cleaning.1Maintenance and CleaningLatchPress the latch and takeoff the filter covers.TabTabFilter coverAir filterWhen putting back the airfilter, make sure that thearrows on the filter arefacing towards the projector.GrooveArrowsPush here whenyou are puttingback the air filter.Press the latch and release it. Take off the filter cover.2Remove dust and dirt with a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner.Be careful not to damage the air filter and do not clean itwith water.When the air filter gets dusty and dirty, replace it with a newone. For ordering the replacement filter, contact your salesdealer.4Put the air filter back into the position. Do not push thedelicate filter part. Make sure that the air filter is properly andfully inserted.5Pull out the air filter.When taking out the air filter, put your fingers on the airfilter’s tabs and pull. Do not try to pull the delicate filter part.3Reset the filter counter (p.48).6 Close the filter cover.7CAUTIONDo not operate the projector with the air filtersremoved. Dust may accumulate on the opticalelements degrading picture quality. Do not putanything into the air intake vents. Otherwise it mayresult in malfunction of the projector.
