11-6 Service and maintenanceEngine oilEngine oil is identified by its qualityand also its viscosity. Quality is moreimportant than viscosity whenselecting which engine oil to use.Engine oil qualityVauxhall engine oil meetsclassifications GM-LL-A-025 andGM-LL-B-025 and is thereforesuitable for both petrol and dieselengines.Topping up engine oilOils of different manufacturers andbrands can be mixed as long as youcomply with the specified engine oilcriteria (quality and viscosity). Not every engine oil available on themarket meets the qualityrequirements, always check therequired specification and rating ismarked on the container. If engine oil of the required quality isnot available, a maximum of 1 litre ofACEA A3/B4 or A3/B3 grade may beused (only once between each oilchange). The viscosity should be ofthe correct rating.Use of ACEA A1/B1 and A5/B5engine oil is expressly forbidden, since they can cause long-termengine damage under certainoperating conditions.Engine oil additivesThe use of engine oil additives couldcause damage and invalidate thewarranty.Engine oil viscosityDiesel engines:SAE 0W-30, 0W-40, 5W-30 or 5W-40Petrol engines:SAE 5W-30The SAE viscosity rating defines theability of an oil to flow. When cold, oilis more viscous than when hot.Multigrade oil is indicated by twofigures. The first figure, followed by aW, indicates low temperatureviscosity and the second figure thehigh temperature viscosity.Coolant and antifreezeUse antifreeze of recommendedspecification.GM-LL-A-025: Petrol enginesGM-LL-B-025: Diesel enginesGM General Motors EuropeLL LonglifeA or B Engine oil qualityspecification025 Validity index
