To prevent accidental starting of the enginewhen servicing or adjusting the machine,remove the key from the ignition switch anddisconnect the spark plug wires.2. To reduce fire hazards, keep the engine freeof grass, leaves, excessive grease, and dirt.3. Keep all nuts, bolts, and screws tight to ensurethe machine is in a safe, working condition.Check the blade mounting bolts frequently,making sure they are tight.4. Perform only maintenance instructionsdescribed in this manual. Unauthorizedmaintenance operations or machine modifica-tions may result in unsafe operating condi-tions.5. If the engine must be running to perform amain tenance adjustment, keep hands, feet,and clothing away from moving parts. Do notwear jewelry or loose clothing.6. Always use the proper engine service man-ual when working on the engine. Unauthor-ized maintenance operations or modificationsto the engine may result in unsafe operatingconditions.7. Altering the equipment or engine in any man-ner which adversely affects its operation,perfor mance, durability, or use will VOID thewarranty and may cause hazardous condi-tions.8. Never attempt to disconnect any safety devic-es or defeat the purpose of these safety de-vices.9. Do not change the engine governor settings oroverspeed the engine. The governor hasbeen factory-set for maximum-safe engineoperating speed.10. Use genuine factory replacement parts.Substitute parts may result in product malfunc-tion and possible injury to the operator and/orothers.11. Use care when charging the battery orper forming maintenance on the battery andelectrical system:a. Make sure the battery charger is un-plugged before connecting or disconnect-ing cables to the battery.b. Charge the battery in a well-ventilatedspace, so gases produced while chargingcan dissipate.c. Keep sparks, flames, and smoking materi-als away from the battery at all times. Toavoid sparks, use care when removingbat tery cables from posts.d. Disconnect both battery cables beforeunplugging any wiring connectors or mak-ing repairs on the electrical system.12. Do not attempt to service the engine fuel injec-tion system, which contains high pressure fueland may cause injury if mishandled. For ser-vice of the pressurized fuel system, includingthe fuel pump, fuel lines, and fuel injectors,contact your Walker dealer or authorizedBriggs & Stratton service dealer.IMPORTANT: Keep all applicable manualsimmediately accessible to anyone who mayoperate or service this machine.
