Check operation of the FSC Neutral Switch byplacing the FSC lever in the full FORWARDposition. While holding the ignition switch inthe START position, slowly move the FSClever back towards the NEUTRAL-PARKposition until the starter motor engages. Notethe position of the FSC lever where it passesthrough the slot in the body. The FSC levershould be within 1/8 in. (3 mm) of the NEU-TRAL-PARK position. If this distance is great-er than 1/8 in. (3 mm), the FSC Neutral Switchneeds to be adjusted downward for quickeractivation.Step 7 - Forward Speed Control FrictionAdjustmentFSC FullForward PositionPull SteeringLevers Back toCheck FrictionLockFSC Friction Adjustment Test(Checking Friction Lock)1. Place the FSC lever in the full FORWARDposition, and pull both steering levers fullyback; the FSC lever should not move. If theFSC lever moves back the friction needs tobe increased.2. With the steering levers held back, move theFSC lever back from the FORWARD position. With a proper amount of friction adjusted, theFSC lever should move back with a slightamount of resistance (friction). If the FSClever movement is “stiff”, the friction needs tobe decreased.3. The FSC friction is increased or decreasedby tightening or loosening the friction ad-justment nut. Loosen or tighten the nut andcheck the control function until the conditionsof both steps 1 and 2 (above) are met.FSC FrictionAdjustment NutFSC Friction Adjustment Nut
