Thereafter, change oilevery 400 hours of operation as follows:1. Thoroughly clean the exterior of the transaxlehousing before servicing. Remove expansionreservoir cap to allow venting. Using a 1/4 in.hex wrench, remove the plug on the lowerinside of each transaxle allowing the oil todrain.2. Remove the oil filter guard, remove and re-place the oil filter using an oil filter wrench.Tighten filter by turning filter 3/4 to 1 turn aftergasket contacts the filter base surface. Before reinstalling the elbows, screw the lock-ing nut on the elbows down until they are snug(the o-ring on the elbow will be to the bottomof the o-ring groove).Elbow Screw LockingNut DownReinstall Transaxle Elbows7. Reinstall the elbows. When the elbow beginsto be snug, position the elbow as it was whenremoved and tighten the locknut. Reinstallreservoir hoses to elbows.8. Fill reservoir to 1/4-1/2 in. (6-13 mm) from thebottom with 20W-50 (API Service Class SL orhigher) oil.9. Start and drive the tractor for 1-2 minutes.10. Check the reservoir oil level. It should be1/4-1/2 in. (6-13 mm) from the bottom. If oilneeds to be added, refer to steps 4-10.11. If the transaxles sound noisy or have poorsteering response, there may be air trapped inthe transaxle that needs to be purged. To purge air from transaxle, raise the tractorand block with tires off the ground. Withengine running, slowly move the ForwardSpeed Control forward and backward 5 to 6times. Turn off engine and check oil level andadd if needed. Repeat procedure until trans-axles operate at normal noise levels and movesmoothly in forward and reverse.
