72Maintenance Instructions H37iAdjustments4. With the body lowered and the FSC in NEU-TRAL-PARK, start the engine. With the en-gine at normal operating speed, check formovement of the drive wheels.5. Lift the body to access the steering adjustmentcomponents.NOTE: It may be necessary to tighten theFSC friction adjustment if the transmissionsare moved out of neutral when the body israised. Refer to Step 7 - Forward SpeedControl Friction Adjustment on page 73 forlocation of the FSC friction adjustment nut.6. Using a wrench on one tracking adjustmentnut, rotate the control rod clockwise just untilthe wheel on that side begins to move for-ward. Then, counting the turns required, rotate the control rod counterclockwise justuntil the wheel stops and then begins to movein reverse. Rotate the control rod back clock-wise half the number of turns required to makethe wheel go from moving forward to reverse. The transmission is now centered in the neu-tral window. Tighten the jam nut on the balljoint and repeat the same procedure on theother transmission.7. Turn off the engine, and then lower the drivetires onto the ground.Step 4 - Full Forward Speed Adjustment1. Move the FSC to the full FORWARD speedposition.2. Raise the body. The maximum speed trackingadjustment set screw in both transmissioncontrol arms should not be contacting the limitstud on the transaxle. If they are, back the setscrews out until they do not touch.T-HandleHex WrenchMaximumSpeed TrackingAdjustmentTransmissionControl ArmMaximum Speed Tracking Adjustment(Shown with Parts Removed for Clarity)Step 5 - Straight Tracking Adjustment1. Sit in the seat, start the engine, set throttle atfull speed, and with the FSC in the NEUTRAL-PARK position check for movement of eitherdrive wheel (if either wheel moves backwardor forward, refer to Step 3 - Neutral FunctionAdjustment on page 71 and readjust).2. Check for straight ground tracking on a levelsurface (with hands off the steering levers).Set the FSC at several different speeds andobserve if the machine moves in a straight line(use cement joint or other line on ground forreference).3. If travel is not straight, shorten the control rodon the slow side by turning the tracking adjust-ment nut clockwise. If straight tracking andneutral cannot be achieved, turn the trackingadjustment nut counterclockwise until neutralis restored.4. Lengthen the control rod of the faster side byturning the tracking adjustment nut counter-clockwise to match the slower side while main-taining the neutral position.IMPORTANT: After tracking adjustments arecomplete, confirm that there is at least one (1)thread visible on both control rods past thetracking adjustment nuts.5. If the machine is tracking straight throughoutthe speed range except at maximum speed, use the following adjustment procedure:a. With the engine off, place the FSC in fullFORWARD. On the faster transmission, loosen the jam nut and turn the maximumspeed tracking adjustment set screw inuntil it just contacts the limit stud, and thenturn it in an additional 1/8 turn (turning theset screw in slows the drive wheel).b. Recheck maximum speed tracking, and ifnecessary continue adjusting the set screwin small increments until straight travel isachieved.c. Tighten the jam nut.Step 6 - FSC Neutral Switch Adjustment1. Place the FSC lever in the NEUTRAL-PARKposition. Loosen the FSC neutral switchmounting screws and adjust the neutral switchup or down accordingly. Refer to FSC NeutralSwitch Adjustment illustration. |
