DOCUCOLOR 12 USER GUIDE 5–27 ADDED FEATURES1234567Variable Erase for edgesThe Variable Erase option, illustrated in Figure 29,enables the copier/printer to vary the amount oferasure from 0 to 50 mm in 1 mm increments. Thesame amount of erasure is applied to both top andbottom edges or right and left edges of thedocument.The Centre Area Erase option allows you toremove the shadow caused by the centre bindingof bound documents when they are copied. Thefactory default setting for Centre Erase is 0 (zero).Select the up arrow to increase the amount oferasure or the down arrow to decrease theamount of erasure.KEY POINT: If your document contains an imagearea that extends to the edges of the document,and you do not want any of it to be deleted, usethe Variable Erase arrow buttons to set the erasevalue to zero. Select the Margin Shift feature, AutoShift option, from the Added Features tab. Ensurethat 100% is selected for Reduce/Enlarge featureon the Basic Copying tab.NOTE: Keep the following notes in mind whenusing Centre Area Erase:• Do not use Centre Area Erase with thefollowing features:– Multiple-Up– Repeat Image• The Centre Area Erase setting in the VariableErase feature is the same as the centre erasesetting of Bound Originals.• For some original image sizes, Centre AreaErase does not occur exactly in the centre ofthe output image.Figure 29: Variable Erase screen
